So one day to go before I fly to South Africa to cover the 2010 FIFA World Cup and I couldn't be more excited/nervous/jubilant/*insert overly enthusiastic adjective here* about it if I tried. It really has been a painful week watching the kick-off to the worlds greatest sporting tournament and counting the minutes until you'll be out there yourself.
For those that don't know, my name is Dan Rowley and I am a sports photographer working for Colorsport and will be covering games in Cape Town and Port Elizabeth up until the semi-finals at which point I will be flown home (kicking and screaming if England make it to the final). I'll be based in Cape Town for the entire time I'm there with a few overnighters to Port Elizabeth and from what people tell me about the southern states it looks like I got a pretty good gig.
I aim to keep this blog as current and up to date as possible throughout my stay and hopefully will be able to give any readers an insight into how one area of the media works (or doesn't) at a major tournament.
Good Luck Dan, have a great time and stay out of trouble! ;-)
